Steamrolling the Holidays

It's been a week since the Steam holiday sale has ended. How are you Steam gamers doing, got anything good? Beaten any of your new games already yet? I hope you're holding back, because that would be a lot better since another sale season won't be around pretty soon. Besides, your wallet and/or your credit card need their well earned rest.

Maybe This is a Retribution From All the Thievery I did in Skyrim

My phone got stolen last week. And I had to be honest, it ruined my mood so much that I just couldn't think of anything funny for a few days. Probably because this is the first time some damn thief was able to steal something from me when I'm going out, or at least the first time I got targetted.

What really got me angry is that the incident happened so fast that I didn't have time to react. I was on the bus at that time, and got both my hands in each of my pockets. The bus hit the brakes to stop, and the momentum caught me off guard a bit, so I get my left hand out to grab the railing above because there were no soft, squishy boobs to hold on to. But when I put hand back into my pocket, my phone was no longer there.

I do suspect someone though, one elderly man who was so reluctant to have his pockets searched. Although my phone was not there after my search, I'm sure that he moved it somewhere in his own bag before I realized my phone was gone. Was I being too suspecting? Well, if you've ever ride in a bus here in Jakarta (which is totally not an enjoyable experience), you'll come to agree that at least 80% of the passengers are assholes, which would become evident right away the moment you see how they... "line up".

"What's that? You want to pass through? Well, fuck you and everything you love then, we're staying right here"

A Game's 'Fun' in Its Purest Form

2014 Steam Christmas sale is coming, so I hope you gamers have some money left to spare for the outrageous discounts and didn't spent too much on the last sale period. I had to admit, several of the price were so low that I bet a lot of you bought games that you might never play anyway. Might want to remember this the next time you want to tease girls for buying a lot things out of impulse. But I do hope that you at least got your hands on Garry's Mod (Gmod) among other things.

"What is it?" you may ask. Well, Gmod is a physics sandbox game using a modified Source engine from Valve, where you can do literally anything you want. There are no goals or objective that you must do in order to play it 'properly', the game will just put you in a map and gives you tools and other stuffs to play with and have fun with all of it, the rest is completely up to you.

Thinking Upside-Down With the Inverted Y-Axis

Let's do a quick count; Who among us here who plays, or at least used to play, First-Person Shooter games with their mouse Y-axis inverted? Raise your hand if you're one of them, I'll wait.
...
..
Done? Great. I hope I'm not the only one raising their hand looking like a retard.

Yeah, I used to play FPS game with the inverted mouse option ticked on, and I totally was not able to play it otherwise. Believe me, I tried a lot back then, but the only thing I get was increased miss rate and death counts. It really caused some problem when I'm playing with my friends and switching players each time one of us dies, even more than when someone's eating some cheese potato chips.

Little did they know that I always masturbated beforehand

A Tribute to Command & Conquer, the RTS Legend

Quick, what is the first genre that comes up in your mind when you hear the word "PC game"?

Results may vary, there's no right or wrong answer. Especially when literally every one of them can be related to a PC game, be it action, adventure, strategy, RPG, sports, visual novels, erotic games, etc. You name it, the PC got it, even the ones that makes you wonder "what the fuck am I playing?".

This should be a simulator for toddlers

As for me, I would go with Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games. Two reasons, the first one being that it is THE only game that you could play properly on a PC. Sure, there has been some versions of it released for consoles, but I didn't enjoy playing it there at all. How the hell can you manage multiple squads, constructions, resource gathering, and unit micro-management all at the same time with a goddamn joypad?

Hell Hath No Fury Like a Tank Scorned

Finally free from my Technology Infrastructure take-home exam. It was probably the worst exam I had experienced yet ever since I took my Master degree. We were tasked to form a company strategy from a scratch for an imaginary airline company regarding the Information Technology department. The test required a lot of stuffs to explain, such as the current status of the industry, the application to be used and why, the structure for the IT department that we would create, and a Gantt chart that we never have learned at all before.

I was so proud of my work that I would love to share it to you guys, but I know you don't want to read seven-pages long of something that doesn't interest you nor do I want to write them all over again, so I'm going to summarize it in one picture. Because, you know, they said a picture is worth a thousand words.

Here you go

Persistence is Futile

Remember my previous post about the Working Across Borders course we have in our campus and its shenanigans? Last week the course had ended with everyone being happy about it, since the exam was a bit vague and it took a lot of brain crunching to get it done.

And yes, the 1ecturer did got replaced with a motherly businesswoman who embraces the concept of democracy, since she totally agreed with our proposition to make the exam not to be taken in class, although that did make it harder than it probably should be (see the 'brain crunching' part above).

So what about our dear Mr. Stalker? He got kicked out after his second day, thankfully. And after his repeated failed attempts on wooing my clasmate, he finally backed down.... But not before attempting yet another desperate call just a week after he got suspended, right before the class started.

"Hello? Hell...o? It's meee, Mr. 'Creep don't answerrrr'"

Seeing is Not Believing for Some People

One day, my friend asked me this: "Have you ever felt so annoyed you feel like stabbing someone?"

Boy, you have no idea

I told him I'd just write it off whenever that kind of thing happens, since I could rant however I want without actually hurting anyone. Although most of the times I would just go on a virtual killing spree to ease that bloodlust.

Not the Shadow of Chernobyl, but Still a Stalker

So for this last semester we got this subject called Working Across Borders, a one credit subject that is supposed to be about how to maintain a working condition when you're abroad. Like for instance, learning the country's local language, studying their culture, trying to read their hand signals, or trying not to laugh on their unique way of communicating, stuffs like that.

As for what I was personally expecting from the lesson, I would love to know more about how to reach out to the majority of the people despite the cultural difference, learning what they all would love to get and what they don't. Because this blog, for some reason, have more foreign readers compared to the ones from Indonesia (probably because of the language used, quite a surprise there). And I thought it would be nice to know about this subject should I be working within foreign community.

This place comes to mind

Appreciation and Greed

Some of you may wonder why I didn't make a post about the last AFAID like I did with the Toy's Fair a few months ago. Well, first of all, for you Indonesian readers, I'm sure your own Facebook wall has been filled with your friends' posts about it, so I figured that I won't add anymore hype in it - especially if you didn't go there but was really looking forward to, then I would be just adding more salt to the wound.

Besides, the whole thing was really awesome that I just have no idea how to describe the entire thing in words, and any attempt that I do would reduce the impact so much that I won't be able to convey the fun I had back there. Although to be honest, I had a hard time trying to make it into a not normal diary, so I became a little bit lazy to do it. Let's just say that I was really happy and satisfied.

Another Serious Post

I went to another Jumu'ah last Friday, as usual. With the difference being that this is the fasting month of Ramadhan, which means that school kids are on the holiday, so it was a lot more crowded than usual.

Of course I tried to go to sleep after I found a spot to sit somewhere around the stairs on the back entrance. But it's not because I got sleepy, my body halready had its revenge this morning. It's mainly because I don't really want to hear the khutbah because, well, it bugs me. It was mostly about the law made by God vs the law made by humans, and the content along with the deliverance method felt too extreme for me.

The khatib stated that the law made by God is absolute, which is kinda true when we (us muslims) think about it since they're stated in the holy Qur'an and all. But the other thing he pointed out is that everything else can suck satan's dick.

So basically, everyone else is Saddam Hussein
