The Internet is (Not Just) for Porn

Okay, I've been holding this one back up for a while even though one of my best friend urged me to do it quite a while ago, because despite the topic is an interesting one to discuss, it's still something quite dangerous to talk about because it involves some privacy and different point of views. But then this son of a bitch came along and decided to do yet another retarded thing for reasons that doesn't make any goddamn sense, I just have to do this after all.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; I'm going to talk about porn.

And then there was much rejoicing

Let's start with some history lessons first. The first concept of pornography appeared around the Victorian era, which is the 19th century. Back then it was very controversial because, you know, it was the first time pornography ever showed up. They eventually outlawed the publication and trafficking of any objects related to pornography, and ordered the destruction of the ones that are meant for sale.

Fast-forward to the 20th century, and we have porn magazines scattered all around the world, porn videos, and even some 8-bit porn games for whatever reason. And now at the 21st century, the industry still stands firm, even more so with the era of internet that pretty much anyone with an internet access can get their hands on a porn. It has become so easy to acquire that I bet at least 1 out of 10 people in the world who are surfing the web right now have one open on their tabs.

"Holy shit, he's a wizard!"

Now my first point is that, sure, porn is bad for you. It makes you waste your time (watching and/or masturbating on it), and it gets worse when you get addicted to it. Just ask the people who actually paid their monthly subscribtions to their favorite porn sites, or their monthly Playboy issues. It's also stricly banned in other countries and violations would be punished by law. And don't get me started on the religious point of view, because I won't.

But a lot of people are missing some vital points here. You see, most people use porn to effectively satiate their biological desire that they can't channel in normal way because they're single and/or not married yet. And what better way to let go that frustration than to rub one out? They become (somewhat) satisfied, and nobody gets hurt. Part of them can jack off with minimum materials, sometimes nothing at all, but it has been a common knowledge that using porn to wank yields best results. Just don't do it too many times.

"I've used both arms, totally worth it"

And porn also opens up that forbidden gate where your fantasies will never be allowed come true in the reality. Are you in your late 40's but wants to bang a hot 17 year old girl? Do you enjoy BDSM but your partner is not a fan of it? Do you secretly enjoy rape play but your moral code says no? Are you someone who gets aroused when you see girls literally shitting? There are porn of those out there, just shake your willy to that.

What's that, you want something more.... specific? Welcome to the hentai world, where your desires from the pure vanilla of lovemaking to the most sick perversion available can be fulfilled without taking it out to the real world and becoming a criminal. This is the internet, rule 34 is there for a reason. Believe me, I've seen shits I shouldn't have.

"But a lot of rapists are porn consumers, eliminating porn would be the most effective way to prevent this from happening!", you might say. Well then, let's make a quick review: How many people you know in your life watch porn? How many of them still doing them now?

"Hmm, I get the feeling I know one guy"

If your answer to the first question is "no one", then you're either too confined in your room with no access to outside world, too naive to understand the world, or a professional liar. Because it's impossible, really, especially in this era.

If it's the answer to the second question, then I might believe you, although some of them that are 'no longer doing it' are probably still doing it in secret now. People do quit porn, but most of the time the reason is not because they 'got tired of it', it's mostly because they find something else to do that are worth more of their time.

So how many of them turn out to be a rapist? If the answer is still the same, well that's what have been normally happening. Most porn consumers turn out just fine in the end, almost everyone of my male friends (and several females) are porn consumers, and that's not even counting family members. They all do good in their lives, not a single one of them becomes batshit insane whenever they are alone together with someone and start some molesting. Because we're humans, remember? We don't act simply by instincts and desires, we act based on logic and common sense.

Internet porn is so easily accessible now that it's useless to try and stop it from spreading, it's now so common that it's no longer a taboo to talk about in a group with a mutual understanding. It's not consumed as commonly as cigarettes, yet not as dangerous as alcohol, but it's still bad in it's own way. So I'm going to tell you this, parents and soon-to-be-parents: You still need to keep your child away from porn.... until they reach an age where they would understand you enough when you give them sex-ed, like for instance, after their first wet dream.

We live in an age where elementary school kids are using smartphones. Hell, even kids on a stroller are playing on a goddamn iPad. The possibility of you completely preventing your children from accessing porn later on is pretty much abysmal, and when they actually found out about it and you haven't done anything to educate them about the birds and bees, they will crave for more, and sending them to religous boarding schools won't do much, if not making it worse. The only thing you can do is to reduce that mind-blowing effect when they see their first boobies (or willies) by properly showing them the right way and guide them while they walk on their own instead carrying them in a blindfold.

Hopefully you've been raising them well, and they are smart enough to understand the basics of actions versus consequences. Because should they become a maniac who would sexually harass people, and you start blaming porn for it, it's pretty much the same as blaming guns for killing people.
