Dark Side, Light Side, Whatever

I've talked about how I never liked politics before. If I have to rank it in my most hated conversation topics, it's right there below 'Sports' and slightly above 'Religion debate'. Because just like the latter, no matter what you say won't sway the other party to your side - and just like the former, no matter how much you're in love with it doesn't mean that you need to express it thoroughly to every single person in your life. Really, how would YOU feel when us gamers start blabbering to no end about our world?

"So get this, the guy went 1v2 and then he pulled out a combo from his Q and W and finish them up with his ult, so awesome!! Right? Right?! Hey, are you listening?"

And these days, as if spreading black campaigns and made up articles were not enough, people in the social media have been putting up their profile picture with a clear statement of who they are supporting for the next presidential election, and claiming that their choice is "the right one". Since someone already went all-out grammar nazi about this phenomenon, I'm going to talk about it from other perspectives.

First is the freedom of choice. I understand that it's also their freedom to choose who would they support, and do whatever it takes to make sure that people knows about it. The problem is that by saying that their choice is "the right side" they're also saying that "if you choose otherwise, then you suck balls".

It might seem to be too judgemental, I know some people who don't mean that way. But with the way things are with both sides starting to get worse than "Star Trek vs Star Wars", or "Xbox vs Playstation" or "DotA vs LoL", or "Call of Duty vs Halo", or "Chitoge vs Onodera" debates, it's not that far from the truth. Especially after the last Debate Show between the candidates.

Second is the promotion. Why would they go that far to promote the candidate? Did they got paid by them to do it? No. Would they feel more self-esteem by doing so? No. Would it affect other people's opinion because they show their own choice openly? No, it would only sow seeds of arguments and conflict to their friends/family who have different opinion from them. Does it make them look stupid? Yes. Very yes.

So you might as well go all-out stupid while providing entertainment

"But I'm doing this for the country" they might argue, "people need to know who is the best candidate to lead the country for our better future!"

Okay then, so how do you know which one is the best? How do you know that things would work out alright if your candidate got elected? What makes you so sure that they and their supporting parties won't flip again and do some surprise butt-sex on us once we dropped our guard? This is not a recruitment campaign for a military outfit, this is something for everyone.

My point is that, it's totally okay to voice your opinion, and it's totally okay to show which candidate are you rooting for. But please, stop force-feeding your opinion to the others, because nothing good will come out of it. And keep in mind that your "right side" is the "wrong side" for others (unless it actually means that you're a fascist right-winger), putting up a badge to show your faction like that would only make others tense up around you.

I got killed multiple times just because of this

So next time you want to talk about how good your candidate is, please go right ahead, we might need the inspiration. But when you start comparing to the other candidate or even actually spreading the bad issues, you better shut the hell up.
